Cross County Parents and Guardians,
The NSAA recently released information regarding Pre-Participation Evaluations, sports physicals, for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. Because health care providers are dealing with the demands of COVID-19, most of them are postponing most, if not all, non-essential wellness and maintenance appointments and are planning on continuing to do so until July. Because of these demands, the NSAA felt that the health care system in Nebraska would not have the ability to meet the requirement that all athletes in grades 7-12 have a PPE by the start of their fall sport practices.
As a result, the NSAA has stated that any member school that has a 2019-20 PPE on file for their students who are entering the 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades can use that physical for the 20-21 school year. Any student who is entering the 7th and 9th grade will STILL be required to get a PPE for the 2020-21 school year.
If you have a son or daughter who is entering the 7th or 9th grade and is planning on participating in athletics, they will need to have a new sports physical performed before they participate in a sport during the 20-21 school year. If you have a son or daughter entering 8th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade and they have a physical on file at Cross County from the 19-20 school year, they do NOT need to have a new sports physical for the 20-21 school year.
If you have any questions, please contact the school.
