The Cross County Elementary students showed just how big their hearts are this past month while participating in the Kids Heart Challenge through the American Heart Association. Led by elementary teacher Mr. McConnell, the event kicked off with a fun and engaging PE Family Night in March, bringing students and families together to promote healthy habits and an active lifestyle.
From there, our students rose to the occasion—working hard to raise funds for an important cause while learning the value of taking care of their hearts. To add a little extra excitement, Mr. McConnell offered an incentive: any student who raised over $100 would earn the chance to slime him! They stepped up to the plate and earned $2,368 for the American Heart Association.
By the end of the challenge, thirteen students met that goal and excitedly received their cups of slime. The entire elementary school gathered outside to celebrate and witness the slime fest. Mr. McConnell was a great sport.
We are proud of our students for their efforts and generosity. A big thank you to Mr. McConnell for organizing such a fun and important fundraising event!
